Fuso New Zealand conducted a one-year trial with urban freight operators to gain experience and confidence in providing freight services in the proposed Auckland Queen Street Zero Emission Area using five Fuso eCanter electric trucks. Retyna assisted Fuso NZ with: identifying the project concept; project design; securing government co-funding; surveying freight operators and drivers before, during and after the trial; guidance on
depot charging infrastructure; coordination with the telematics data provider; writing 6- and 12-month reports; and presenting the report findings to stakeholders. At the end of the trial, all five operators provided conditional support for the proposed Zero Emission Area and identified the need for public DC electric truck charging facilities in the central city. Four of the five freight operators procured further electric trucks immediately after the trial.
